The Haarrijnseplas is a perfect place to be on a hot summer day! You can enjoy the water by swimming in the part of the lake designated for swimming. There is a little beach there, where you can go for free between sunrise and sunset. The beach also hosts a restaurant where you can enjoy a drink or a bite to eat! Some fun activities and festivals are also organised on the beach of the Haarrijnseplas.

The lake plays an important role in the watersystem in the neighbourhood Leidsche Rijn, at the edge of the city. Excessive water is stored here in wet times, and taken from the lake in dry times of the year.
